forms 6i compatible issue with Win XP [message #529030]

Hi All

Actually I have installed win95 compatible version of forms 6i on XP.

It was succesfully installed on XP

But when I am trying to connect database it throwing error ORA-12203:Unable to connect destination.

was this is issue because of the compatible installtion???

How can I resolve this???

ORA-12203: TNS:unable to connect to destination

Cause: Invalid address specified or destination is not listening. This error can also occur because of underlying network or network transport problems.

Action: Verify that the net service name you entered was correct. Verify that the ADDRESS portion of the connect descriptor which corresponds to the net service name is correct. Ensure that the destination process (for example the listener) is running at the remote node.

thanks for your quick response.

but I am able to connect through forms 11g, not through forms 6i.

Both the applications use same network settings.

and I have check the TNS files. It is perfect.

Is there any other solution???

I do not know what "win95 compatible version" means, but something that is 16 years old doesn't sound like it would work to me.

I use Oracle Forms Developer 6i, Win95 compatible version on Windows Xp, Windows Vista and Windows 7 and including on 64-bits architecture. I really can't understand what`s your problem. Check this things:

ORACLE_HOME\NET80\ADMIN\TNSNAMES.ORA
Try to connect to your database using SQLPlus: ORACLE_HOME\BIN\PLUS80W.EXE
Have you applied any patches?

Remember that is different ORACLE_HOME for both products, for developer 6i the default name of the folder is orant adn the location is C:\orant

I have been working with patch 13 and patch 16 and works on all the os and architecture that i mention.

Maybe not for you, but he want to use it. Just because its old doesn't mean nothing: imagine someone saying that DOS is not useful just because it is old!
